The challenge

After installing wet flue gas desulphurisation, a power unit found that its in-situ dust monitor could no longer give reliable readings: the flue gas was cool and saturated with water droplets, and dust levels were now very low.

What GPIPL delivered

GPIPL recommended an extractive dust monitor that draws the sample isokinetically and heats it so droplets evaporate before measurement, with laser forward scattering suited to ultra-low concentrations. A zirconia humidity / oxygen analyzer provides the moisture value needed for correction.

Results

  • Dependable dust readings at ultra-low levels in wet flue gas.
  • Moisture and oxygen data for normalising emission values.
  • Long maintenance-free periods thanks to the anti-blocking jet pump design.
